Pros & Cons

Pros

This does everything i'd expect it to do. This, of course, also releases the ball head.

Don't be fooled by the very low this this is very heavy, but as sturdy as they come. Well constructed, easy to use, sturdy enough to hold a bmcc with a eos 70-200 and not budge.

Re-positioning capability on the tightening knob is genius! The smaller lever is also very easy to flip open and closed, but is almost certain never to get flipped open by accident.

Overall, i feel that i've got my money's worth with this purchase. Would buy again. Steal for the price.

The plate is thinner than most.

Cons

The adjustment knob feels like it's gummed up. The screw hole on the bottom is larger than the screw on top of the mono pod. It is completely worthless and un useable.

Quality

Really pleased with the quality of the head

Quality exceeded expectations that were based on price

Not too sure about the quality of the metal

I had to stuff some material inside to make it go well with the screw

Shipping

Return shipping will cost too much so for the price i will keep it an maybe try using it with some other rig

Packaging/appearance

The the ball lock on the side isnt fit perfectly to the hex head inside so it is kinda loose

Competitiveness

Having used a manfrotto 3001 with a 3 position tripod head for 30 years this is so much better

I own a number of manfrotto rc2 heads and quick release plates and i wanted something similar so i didnt have to buy new plates

Unfortunately it doesnt come with a 14inch adapter for the base if you need one you will have to purchase it separately

The ball feels rough even though there are greese lubricating it

The lever itself is large and easy to flip open and closed but if you want to ensure that it doesnt snag on something and eject the quick release plate at an inopportune moment there is a much smaller lever that locks it from being able to open

That smaller lever is also very easy to flip open and closed but is almost certain never to get flipped open by accident
