I would of giving it 6 stars if possiblei do have other tone generators that work good as long as you have access to wire for direct contact i had a situation where jacuzzi tub receptacle stopped working looked for gfi switch and did not find one so i checked the breaker with no lucktiles were installed on the wall and no easy accessgot this tone generator based on good reviews and it was amazingtook 2 minutes to trace the wire trough the wall sheetrock and tiles so overall 2 12 or more away to a gfi switch in a closetgreat tool very strong signal easy to trace not to mention the led light on it that will go off is you depart from the wire your tracing

The transmitter requires higher voltage in order to function well

Other units with aa and aaa do not work as well because the transmission is not as strong
