But when i plugged in the distant box in the room where i want a wired connection it did not find the router

No signal no router and no connection

If you have a house or building like this you will not get the tplink av500 to work if the two boxes are plugged into ac outlets that are on two disconnected loops

The problem however is that it is recognized as a wireless router

Except if you have mediacom service cable internet

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Mediacom has a policy that their supplied wireless router will only broadcast if it is strictly the device broadcasting once you have a router attached it is only a matter of time before it updates the router firmware which you are locked out of directly they have a pass through website that you make adjustments on and they send what you want downstream to update the router

And to top it off mediacom doesnt similarly update once the attached router is removed

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Long story short if you have cable internet and are otherwise forced to jump through hoops as standard operating procedures then this device may gift you a two hour phonecall with your isp because your wireless is down
