It scribes glass. The cutter lays down a perfect track of oil that is dispensed when the pressure is put on the cutter head as the cutter is in motion. Mine has been filled for three weeks now with no leakage.

The crack allows cutting oil to leak out all over the brass collar. I am a glazier and find that wheel skips on mine.

A few years ago i started using the toyo tc17 straight heads and its probably the second best next to the fletcher
Whether the wicked oiling strategy of the fletcher cutters is better than the pushbutton strategy of the toyo is unclear to me

I have a fletcher tungsten carbide i mostly use but new cutter heads can run about 40 dollars

Negatives sometimes i dont get a good oil flow so im still adding cutter oil to the glass

The little rubber gasket around the fill part is very cheap and if you tighten to much it may leak abit
