It features surge and overload protection as you would both want and expect. The power switch is conveniently located on the top. The tower is protected by the surge protector, certified by ce and rohs.
Even at the full price, this tower is still competitive with many of the alternatives out there. It is really quite impressive for a reasonably priced extension tower.
Cons
Apart from the energy saving issue, i thought, how unsafe is this to the shipping. The tower was returned for a full refund.

Rolling the cable back into the device you simply rotate the tower while holding the base
