Pros

High-capacity drive is perfect for media content. Designed to keep up with heavy use demands, such as security video recording and multimedia production. Tb drive effectively triples the days we can keep.

Toshiba s300 8tb disk comes with a 3 year warranty. One of the fastest mechanical drives i have ever used. It transfers pretty quick depending on the medium that you are using.

Good drive, and at under $30/tb. Is a photographers answer to having too many hard drives. It is a bit noisy when it is on and get a bit warm but that feels normal for a drive of this capacity.

Cons

Despite attempts to reduce the noise with soundproofing, the low pitch clunking noise can still be heard. It is astonishingly loud. It's not the drive it's the fan in the enclosure the drive is in.

I purchased the drive knowing that it probably had a hard to diagnose problem low price and rate this pruchase as excellent

While this drive is critical for a video system it also works well in a drive array situation and can cost less per tb at the same time

If youre wanting to put some inexpensive storage into an nvr or dvr then this will probably work for you

The shipping on this was faster then prime said and that was great

Competitiveness

Works very well compared to others in its class of hdds

Pricewise this seems to be the same as what i feel as their main competitor in this space the seagate ironwolf series

Sure the cache and ncq strategies might be different but id imagine those differences would be slight at best
