These alarms are individually so feeble i could barely hear one going off on the other side of an interior residential door. Way too cheaply made. Should put better markings to indicate - and orientation of 9v battery installation.

These work great as we had previous flood in our apartment so we needed these badly
Only had them a couple of months so cant comment on battery life but no reason to suspect it will drain power unless activated
Just had them for a few weeks and can not commend on battery life

Mounted mine under the sinks and in the floor tray for my water tank which is hidden away

A little tip on mounting the sensor i cut a small piece of paper towel and wrapped this a couple of times around the sensor and then duct taped this to the surface see pic
