The flap has magnets on both sides so its never in the way

With my ipad inserted in the first case the upper right hand corner where the surface of the ipad is had a rough surface like it was scratched

But overall the case is sturdy i feel my ipad is well protected even if it were to slip out of my hands

The other portfolio type of cases that i had in the past were very light and when you wanted to watch a movie there were shallow indentations where you were suppose to place your tablet for the 2 or 3 positions

However looking at the pictures you can see that the designers really designed it like something they would want to use along with not trying to go cheaper and less work
