The 550 comes with a basic install kit that will work fine for many, but i wanted something a little fancier. The unit itself seems sturdy, weather-resistant, and durable.

The thrill ride icon is perfect for an aggressive, canyon-carving fool like myself. It's already been helping me a few times navigate from point to point. I wish they had a scenic option and not just the curvy one.

The screen is clear, even in bright sunlight. Presents a lot of info in an uncluttered way. The screen will react to glove touches.

The rider is very practical and truly useful. It pairs perfectly with my bt helmet intercom, so i really don't even need to look down at the screen. Ui is rich but easy to use, with colorful graphics.

The tomtom blocks the signal from a sena 10u with a handlebar remote. Don't buy this, buy the garmin 396 for the same price and actually enjoy your gps.

To cancel a route i needed to (i returned the item) hit menu, scroll right, select current route, select clear route. The ui is horribly cumbersome.

There was no instruction book in the box and there is not yet a resource or instruction download on the tomtom website for the rider 550. No real instructions on installing the charger or user manual to be honest.
