It doesnt fit on the base at the bottom but the sides grip it into place so that it stays in place no matter how i drive

I have a honda civic 2008 and the cd compartment is pretty high no the dashboard so i had to put it in the cd compartment upside down because the ball joint wouldnt let my phone go down enough to view

Photo 1 is the correct position of holder but joint sits too high for me to view phone for my taste
