If you need it for an old analog tv most probably it will work fine

The physical construction of the device is only fair the two slide switches for output selection svideocompositevideo and ntscpal are tiny and a bit hard to operate because they are so small and the power plug does not fit very securely so it is easily pulled out if you move the device

The problem causing the mixed reviews is im guessing that the signals coming out of the two video outputs svideo and composite video are in some way slightly nonstandard

With an hdmi input to the device supplied from the hdmi output of a laptop displaying on the laptop material in 169 format i found the results of plugging the outputs into an lcd television disappointing a the signal from the svideo output produced a blackandwhite image cropped down to 43 with some aspectratio distortion and b the signal from the compositevideo output produced a color image which was less cropped but with similar aspectratio distortion and very poor resolution

However when i plugged the svideo output into a dazzle videocapture device and recorded the video on another pc the quality of the resulting recording was excellent the image was in color the resolution was great and the image was correctly rendered in the 169 aspect ratio
