It calls for glycerin but we found that cooking oil works just as well

You will notice that checking calibration block with meter on a different material setting will not produce calibration value since block is steel

Surface finish does seem to influence measurement by a few thousandths

Same part with mill finish on one side and polished on opposite side read differently depending on which side the sensor contacted
