A young-adult, fantasy and science fiction book that is all about Rolland Wright. Rolland is an orphan who found out that both his parents are members of Knights of Time, and that he, himself can travel between time. In fact, his ability is more powerful than any of the knights, even his parents.When he got attacked on ’Earth’, he was brought into the knights’ world, called ’Eden’. There, he found out the truth about his parents, and he slowly realized what he is capable of. Together with a group of knights with various abilities, they were accidentally brought back to Earth, in the early part of 19th century. This time the whole group needs to fight General Andrew Jackson, as well as other elements, including the evil that killed Rolland's parents.I have mixed feelings about this book. The plot is so reminiscent of ’X-Men’, with a blend of ’Quantum Leap’. However, the battle scenes felt a tad too long. There were times that I just want it to be over, without caring what happens to the characters. The break at the beginning of the second part felt a bit off as well. I felt that the introduction in the first part was enough to set the background of the entire plot.Having said that, I like that the main character is a conflicted teenager who must fight and find his own way. His confusion, insecurities and teenage inclination make him a more likable character. I also appreciate how the author tied up the storyline smoothly, albeit clearly begging for a sequel.  Read Less

Have you ever been on Netflix, and it recommends shows that it thinks you will like? And it even guesses how you will rate something before watching it? And it will guess that you will give the show a 4.9 out of 5, and you wonder what took you so long? That’s how I felt when I came across this book, and read the description.Rolland Wright is an orphan, trying to get by living out of his car. One day, he is attacked by people that say that they killed his father, and discovers he has an amazing ability. He can slllllllllloooooooooooooowww doooooooooooooooooowwwwwn tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime around himself. From there, he is introduced to an entire world that was unknown before, outside of space and time. He groups up with Joan of Arc and Jesse James (the outlaw, not ex-Mr-Sandra-Bullock), who are Knights of Time, to battle evil wherever and whenever it may be. Including General Andrew Jackson in the 19th century. Yep.When I read the words a 'blend of X-Men and Doctor Who with a side of historic fact', that was the same for me as the 4.9 out of 5 Netflix recommendation. You would realize that, if you could see me drinking my morning tea out of my TARDIS mug right now. And while I will admit that it starts a little slllllllllloooooooooooooowww…. Sorry…. It definitely picks up, and becomes a fairly dense story that I quickly found myself engrossed by.This first book was originally released almost 3 years ago, by the time I read it. Hopefully we see another volume in this story soon.  Read Less
