Nothing has ever broken on it, the only sign of its age is a tiny little fabric fray on the top where i snagged it on a thorny bush while hiking.

I previously owned a timbuk2 laptop messenger bag, which after 5 years finally started to fade, nothing wrong with it structurally just began to look old.

The material doesn't appear waterproof; the material isn't urethane-coated, and there isn't a built-in rain cover.

Along the same lines, i sometimes have to fight with the straps to get access to the laptop section.

Second is that it could use some padding on the bottom to protect the contents when setting the bag down (and maybe this would also fix the structure issue).
