These were my major gripes with the book
Nevertheless henrys hand is not seen throughout the book with the exception of final weeks of cromwells life

I did have a few issues with this book though

The issue is that borman writes as though everything that happens during the time that cromwell is in henrys service good or bad is the product of cromwells decisions and actions alone

Borman describes henry as an increasingly suspicious dictatorial king who might be influenced by his advisers but there is no question of his being manipulated by them

But margaret pole was executed in may 1541 some 10 months after cromwells death

Cromwell could have arranged for her to be convicted and arrested but her execution could only have been henrys doing
