Ivan doig is a great writer and his characters are always multi faceted. Doig places the reader in a past time environment which exudes a peacefulness and reprieve from today’s conformist plot summaries.

This book enjoyably describes the following interesting year. But the book is nevertheless a very rewarding read. Beautifully written. Very well crafted.
