It does tighten to fit the head at the crown and the shape of the hat looks cute

There are places i hike where it would be impossible to retrieve a hat that flew off of my head

A woman at the fabric store suggested getting an inch or two of ripstop fabric and sewing it into a finished strap then sewing it into the black lining of the hat inside and tying at the chin

If you adjust your ball cap hats looser than half way this will be too small for you
