Pros & Cons

Pros

Richard rohr is a catholic franciscan priest. Rohr strips off all the man-made ideas of christianity to get down to the real truth.

The eucharist is a transformative experience that casts mere beliefs into the shadows they already really are. That’s how, beyond all the deceptions (especially the self deceptions) one knows the truth, through the fruits. I hope that you will discove...  Read More

The essential tenant of this book is indispensable. This book is so insightful humble and kind.

This book gives voice to the breadth of the christian faith. It evokes a desire to meditate on the way to follow christ.

Cons

Book makes it sound like christianity is pantheistic. Theologically this is blasphemy, because we cannot save ourselves. Unpleasant new testament doctrines such as the atonement are insufficiently cosmological.

It's a strange thing to see rohr complaining of the split of the eastern/western church whilst espousing marcionism. From the point of view of normative biblical faith, rohr's outlook is simply heretical - explicitly so.

It is so sad to see how he is leading so many astray! This is dangerous! Another reviewer calls this book 'new age drivel' - an accurate assessment. Unfortunately, this is untrue.

After reading this book, i have to say, if richard rohr isn't a heretic.

One of those times comes in chapter 2 when he says that the historical jesus never would have made the “i am” statements that are in john’s gospel
