Pros

The author goes through the permian-triassic extinction event, as well as the event that killed the dinosaurs. The meteor that caused the devastation, and how that impact was discovered is another fascinating story, as is the story of why the survivor...  Read More

Thankfully this book blends history and science so perfectly! It sheds scientific light on so many other species that i never knew existed.

The rise and reign of the a new history from the shadow of the dinosaurs to us. An entire chapter is dedicated to many people's favorite dinosaur, the tyrannosaurus rex. I love how the history of evolution has taught me the insignificance of my tiny p...  Read More

We have the woods and bunker preppers and the elon's taking me to mars preppers.

Cons

The copy of this book sold by amazon is defective. Went to the amazon bookstore to return/exchange and the other books there were also defective. This book is not for the young reader.

It seems to be largely given over to in detailed descriptions of his idols and friends in the paleontology field. It makes the field come off as full of juvenile scientists who have no cultural experience beyond the movies.

The western interior seaway was drastically constricted in the late maastrichtian. It reads much more like the jaunts of a narcissist than it does on dinosaur evolution.

Author seems compelled to state information as facts that are actually pure speculation. It’s nothing but guessing. It can feel as though his excitement is about the life he's leading and not his topic.

Such is the popularity of this great beast i had already heard many of the facts about the t rex given in this book although i was surprised to find out that t rex had a level of intelligence probably superior to that of a cat or dog and probably intelligence levels similar to that of a monkey
