Pros
The reddening" is a slow burn horror novel that picks up in the last few chapters. Once there is an encounter with the red, no one is safe.
Kat is a lifestyle journalist who lives near brickburgh, in devon. Helene is a single mother who is drawn to brickburgh to try to understand why her brother would take his own life. Both kat and helene are in collision with their personal past.
Adam nevill excels at characterization in each book he writes. Nevill knows how to immerse a reader with rounded, realistic people and a deep sense of place. L. James, arthur machen, l.
The reddening is a tale of oppression and desperation, of human depravity and evil, and also a fight for survival. Nevill has written has had me devouring the story from start to finish.

I couldn’t get invested in the characters much. I was left completely confused by the ending.
