Pros

It really is a very comprehensive book. The pieces selected are very entertaining and challenging. I wish i had bought it when my daughters still lived at home because the book is well-written enough that i could have guided them through lessons.

This book opens me up to full notation and two handed keyboard playing. It is very informative and helpful, though i wish some of the songs were the complete versions.

The course is a great bargain, it packs more information than most multi-volume courses out there which cost trice as mucn. It takes small pieces so you can learn concepts in chunks. Plan to retire as a mathematics teacher in a few years; looking forw... Read More

This book has a fairly unique spot on my bookshelf. Features a hardcover and is spiral bound so the pages lay flat. It's sort of a nuisance when you close the book, but great for actually using the book on a music stand.

The cd is a marvellous drilling tool. It comes with a cd so you can hear how the pieces included should sound.

Cons

To buy this book is to sit in wreckage. My bass side in sight reading is deplorable beyond description.

As far as being a self tutor i would say only if the pianist is fairly familiar with the instrument and doesnt need to be spoonfed

Even then im still struggling with the pieces in the later units of this book
