The need to get more people thinking this way becomes painfully obvious once the reader is faced with modern food production realities. He often leaves his points with nuanced prescription rather than alarmistly preachy or predictive.
This is one of the most important and thought provoking books i've had the pleasure (however scary) to read in a long, long time. If you are looking for an informative eye opening read, this is definitively for you. I wish this was a movie.
His research is thorough (and indexed). His travels are vast. Informative, intelligent, entertaining and evocative.
Author talks about the overproduction of corn and the impact it has on animals. Also talks about genetically engineered foods and the role of government in the food industry.

From the individualistic perspective vegetarianism is good to prevent the undue suffering towards the animal but without the cultivation of species of the animal such as cows pigs and chickens they would likely become extinct
