Pros

Great read. I read it during the 2020 pandemic, which most certainly gave pause for thought. One will learn about the traditions and customs that can help or hinder a society. He was chosen to hire and run road building crews year round in terrible co...  Read More

Charles egan's the killing snows tells the story of the potato famine in ireland in 1845-7. The book is based in county mayo and is written from the point of view of a family. The author is a native of mayo and has a line of mayo in his family.

This is a novel based on facts found in letters uncovered over 100 years after they were written. This tragic time was described with graphic detail.

The books in this trilogy are very well written. The reader is left to meanwhile unravelling incredible human strength of survival, striving.

Strong, compassionate, and believable characters take you on a journey. This follows the ryan family throughout the book. Loved the family and their story though.
