I am very tired of seeing the silly and obligatory picture of some parasitoid wasp that has laid its egg on the caterpillar and assurance from the author that the caterpillar is a goner to use phillips word

Yea the caterpillar is a goner after it has done nearly all the damage it would have done had it not been parasitized

And if only a few caterpillars make it and they always do its not like one caterpillar being eaten alive by wasp larvae is going to matter
