After using the suggestions in this book, my 18 month old goes quietly to bed. I recently reread this book and found it insightful. I really like the analogy of toddlers to neandrathals, it makes a lot of sense.

Speaking toddler-ese to your child can calm a tantrum. Toddlerese is akward at first, but magically gets a toddler's attention, giving you those few precious seconds in which you can redirect their attention.
