Atwood's writing is not poetry nor prose. Atwood falls into the trap of orientalism at times. References to harems for example, with no understanding clearly of that to which she was referring.

Her writing is problematic at best for these failings, if not unreadable in an age where we have a more nuanced and better understanding of the -isms that bring about regimes.
