Pros & Cons
Pros
A childless ghost couple adopts the toddler and a vampire becomes his guardian. A childhood friend moves away, then returns as a teenager.
Written very well and a very addictive story. After reading the first few sentences, i was hooked. Give it a read and find your own description.
The characters are fantastic, especially bod and silas. It feels like the stuff in the middle chapters were a little filler, but still interesting. Bod's mentor - the reformed vampire silas - is an excellent example.
Gaiman was inspired by kipling's mowgli and by the sight of gaiman's own toddler riding a tricycle through a graveyard. As a writer, i was enthralled by gaiman’s writing style, and seek to emulate it in my own works moving forward.
