There were so many characters that some of them either blended together with other characters or were not particularly notable enough that by the end of the novel i had no real remembrance of them and what they did

It was easy to lose track of time while reading this novel and i hardly noticed exactly how long it was until after i finished reading it

It was easy to lose track of which character was speaking at certain parts of a chapter as the viewpoint could suddenly shift multiple times per chapter

I enjoy epic fantasy as a genre but as genres go there are few more victimized by derivative settings and bound by tropes
