Author shows both the successes and the failures of mck - that is a good thing.
The firm offers a well written perspective on mckinsey. The primus inter pares concept is a very distinctive characteristic of the firm. The writing is brisk and full of stories about the people who led the firm and who formed its corporate culture.
Mckinsey managed to deftly balance the two opposing facets of a professional service organization. This book brilliantly exposes the path and the endpoint that mckinsey a proponent of rationality and competence.

But in this book the author goes to point out that a consulting company made up of young people making decisions who have no skin in the game have actually created the negative zerosum business world that we currently live in

Over the course of the book which traces mckinseys meteoric rise across a 20th century marked by the breakneck expansion pace of global capitalism and market economy mcdonald excels at establishing the company as one that has been very good at being in the right place at the right time
