Pros

Etymologicon is a book for everybody. It's super interesting, and the fact that every single etymological fact connects is really neat. I admit, i'm a bit geeky, especially when it comes to words or books.

The author is an obvious genius and uses his encyclopedic knowledge and sharp sense of humor to bring the hidden and colorful history of our amazing language to life. This book is concise and informative as it is entertainingly.

Author connects the dots and gives you backstories. One chapter blends into the next so seamlessly. I find myself taking notes so i can remember all the cool stuff, but then i realize i’m basically transcribing the entire book into my journal.

Mark forsyth has a wonderful sense of humor and lightness that will delight any reader. The etymologicon is a fast-paced roller-coaster ride through the english language.

There are quite a number of category of words that the book covers and had a few laugh out loud moments. The author is a native english speaker.
