This book is unreadable. The words make no sense. Every word is a mistake.

Even superb novelists have books they probably should have thought about longer and recognized that although set in a certain time period in this case long enough ago to be considered 34historical fiction34 not every reader is intimately aware of that time in our history

Yes he tries to set the mood but if the reader has no real memory of the time period it would be useful to explain somewhere just what several of the allusions really represent or even what he actually means
