    This is a very well researched book, a real page-turner, as it tells the tales of the pitifully few survivors of the cataclysmic eruption of the volcano mt pelee in martinique in 1902, when virtually the entire population of nearly 30 000 in the capital city, st pierre was wiped out in a second.
