Pros

This book has just about every stitch known to crocheters. It has no required skill level - it is good for beginning or experienced crocheting. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves to crochet.

Cons

Horrible yarn choice for photo swatches. High sheen, pale colours, monochromatic. A much better book is robyn chachula's crochet stitches visual dictionary.

I only knew how to do single stitches double stitches and granny squares

First i thought it might be too tedious to learn how to read the symbol diagrams for the patterns

Then i discovered each righthand page also has tiny quickreference on its margin to remind me of the name of each symbol so i didnt have to keep going back to the full symbol guide

Read the first four chapters before searching the book for a pattern
