One thing that this book does which is very unique and i found very helpful was to place the authors actual short stories between chapters to use as examples of his insights about writing

So many other books cite examples of other authors both good and bad and depending on if you read them or not the references can be useful or not so useful

I think the advice in these areas should still be valid but because of the age of this book it does not cover publishing through newer processes like amazon

It deals with traditional publishing and at times sounds a little dated maybe it could use an updated edition but the advice it gives should still be valid
