Pros

Calvin and hobbes is the funniest comic strip ever. The foreword and commentary are awesome. Bill watterson is the best.

Hardcover is a little harder to handle compared to the softcover. Large enough to make a nice display piece and have a presence on any shelf. Secondly, it is heavy (be careful when picking up from the floor).

This gift is perfect and was packaged with lots of detail. It is incredible. Years and layers of goodness.

Cons

The book binding is cheap overall. Anything that marks up the pages or deforms the book is absolutely unacceptable. Dimensions of the paperback edition make it very difficult to use. Difficult to read give the small font in a large book.

It is such a shame that they did not bind these volumes correctly. Returned the second and did not reorder. The pages have become detached from the binding again.

Would have been way nicer to see those pictures as an inlay of some kind in a leather-bound case or something like that. There's yellow stains across many of the white pages and it looks dingy.

I was very impressed by the packing inside at least three boxes

Unfortunately as you can see in the pictures the top right corner of the slipcase is smashed due to terrible packing by someone at amazon
