Pros & Cons
Pros
Kay bratt writes clearly, simply and with honesty. Her hope is contagious. A good prelude to her books, the scavenger's daughters.
I kind of compare this to the rent collector in how it made me feel, and the writing/storytelling style. How refreshing to read a story of such overwhelming good. Profoundly touching story.
An old woman rescues children left at a bridge near her home. The old lady takes the kids and delivers them to orphange. An elderly, compassionate woman finds fei fei and follows her heart instead of abandoning him again.
The bridge is a story about the intermingling of tradition and modernity. Jing works with orphans and the daily interrelationships with poorer chinese people.
Kay depicts the birth mother as a loving mother who no longer can take care of her blind 5 year old. The bridge is a solid, heart-touching story of a chubby young blind boy and the women whose heart he wins over.
