Pros & Cons
Pros

Taleb cogently explains what we are missing when we think about risk. Through philosophical discussion, taleb seeks to change our thoughts to instead focus on these events as potentially impactful.
The book is so well written and entertaining that this will be a joy, not a chore. The parts i was able to comprehend are incredibly insightful. Entertaining, well-researched, profound.
This isn't a flaw of our minds; it's merely a side effect of our brains' wonderful ability to simplify a world that's buzzing with overwhelming data.
Cons
This book is the rambling stream of consciousness of a self-described flambeur. This author is so incredibly self-indulgent and pompous.
With proper editing, this literary diarrhea could have been reduced to a lengthy undergrad blog post. It is incredibly tedious, convoluted and poorly written.
While there are glimmers of insight amidst the tangled web of his musings, they are overshadowed by the overwhelming weight of taleb’s arrogance and verbosity. The only helpful thing i got out of it is a better understanding of the gaussian curve.
This flight fails to reach the heights of enlightenment that it promises. The success of the book by itself is a blackswan event given that it gave no new or enlightening information.
Generalization to other areas is unwarranted. At times self-contradictory. Sweeping and obviously wrong generalizations.
