It shows the importance of home. It shows that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence, and to appreciate your own home.
I disagree with the reviewer who said the book had the gender stereotypes. The artwork captures the story very well and makes the storyline flow easily.
Cons
Old fashioned couple the woman is unhappy, complains and criticizes her husband. The illustration shows an angry mrs bird yelling and shoving her finger in mr bird's consternated face.

The mother bird was sitting on her nest and got scared half to death and she flew away and then there was a storm and the father bird came and looked in the church steeple and couldnt find her and he ran into their old home because he couldnt see in the storm and found the mother bird there and the mother bird had discovered that the old home was fine
