Pros & Cons
Pros
The best and the brightest by david halberstam is about the vietnam war. The tragedy becomes even starker today as we see the previously demonized communist vietnam becoming a major trading partner of the united states.
David halberstam was obsessed with writing this book. He sees things through the lens of his politics, and i think that leads him astray at times. He believes the u. S.
Cons
Halberstam hides the fact that he was a hawk as late as 1965. The author’s writing style makes this book unreadable.
I was disappointed almost immediately. Concur with the other negative reviews. I agree with another reviewer who found the preface to be long-winded and self-serving.
