Sacha black's prose in a non-fiction book is beyond compare. Sacha is hilarious and very helpful. Sasha black’s books are the only ones i read cover to cover.
Writing craft books are amongst my favorites to read. I definitely recommend this for people who are trying to get better at writing, or are looking for a fun reference on prose.
Paula cappa is an award-winning supernatural mystery author. Her style is engaging, fun, often hilarious, but always real and thought-provoking. She identifies the literary devices that will make your prose more powerful and memorable.
Writing is a creative activity that can be both uplifting and weighty. Good writers ensure a balance of all techniques, bending and weaving them to their whims. The anatomy of prose is the modern guide to what it is to be a writer.
It is not completely comprehensive (this would be impossible in a single book) but it provides a good overview of numerous concepts. The last chapter alone covers a bunch of advanced writing techniques.
Cons
For a book on prose, the book's own prose leaves a lot to be desired with all the pretentious cussing and stuff. My god give me a break from this drivel. It's not completely hopeless, there are some good tips in here.
