Unless you have an indash navigation system it is really hard to see the map while you are driving due to size of the portable gps screen and mounting location which leads can lead to glare

Strapping the iphone to your forearm allows you to see the map up close and to make map scale adjustments or to scroll ahead along the route on the screen to see what traffic conditions are

You cant do that in apple maps once you are in route mode
