The noise was actually coming from the base of the biorb not the substrate filter or airstone

The aps 300 is powerful easily enough to power four average airstones
To be clear the pump itself is a lot noiser than the standard biorb pump
I received a biorb hale 60l at christmas but was sent insane by the noise it could be heard upstairs in the bedroom

Its really good air pump but far fron being silent its very noisy

Tried sitting it on sponge and still make loads of noise unfortunately but can get used to it

I modified the filter system as per pondguru you tube video and assumed it must be something id done wrong

The only thing this can be is vibration in the integrated non return valve you cant change this yourself

To be clear this aps 100 pump overpowered whatever was vibrating in the base making the biorb and the base silent apart from the bubble fizz which is more powerful than before

So if no noise is coming from the base of your biorb and its just the pump that is annoying you dont buy

Excellent not ultra silent but depending on setting it makes some noises
