Price
Nevertheless tascam is good at balancing good sound quality portability and cost
Packaging/appearance
Therefore i attribute the hiss to the preamp andor phantom power supply inside the d5300 not the microphones themselves
It would have been nice if they had made the hotshoe connector out of metal but this too is plastic
Competitiveness
I use this with a blackmagic pocket camera to substitute the camera s built in mic
I mounted this on my nikon d7100 and recorded the concerts
I intended to use my nikon d5300 for video as well as still shots

The tm2x sounds similar to the buildin mics on the dr100 mkii decent stereo imaging but on the bright and thin side

The tm2x is cleaner than the 70ds builtin mics but quiet tracks still require use of a noise reduction plugin in post

For kicks i tested the tm2x on my tascam dr60d mkii and they were much quieter so the static on my videos are the result of the cameras funky preamps
