Pros & Cons
Pros
Tamanishiki has a great flavor and cooks up al dente with a nice sauce, thanks to the starch. It calls for a simple, direct style that emphasizes the play of flavours, textures and colour. The flavor and the texture are both very good.
This is a little pricey compared to what i'm used to paying. During a pandemic, i stay home as much as i can. Price is slightly higher but it saves me a trip to lug it from the store.
Wishing it was in a ziplok bag so i wouldnd have to store it in a big tupperware. But very edible other wise.
I find myself rinsing this 3-4 times before i cook it. My wife makes fun of me for using it instead of cooking it stove top but whatever lol. I cook using a jojirushi induction heating system rice cooker & warmer np-gbc05.
Cons
The rice itself is something black/fray in color.
Highlights
Quality
The quality is as good as buying at the store
Definitely a quality product that i do not mind paying a bit extra for
If youre american and dont know any better go with the cheap stuff
With the local options that i have even factoring in the cost of going and getting it i would not buy it at this price
Price
Price is slightly higher but it saves me a trip to lug it from the store
Avoid first supermarket in future they are price gouging during the covid epidemic
Nishiki tastes better to me and considering the price difference ill stay with nishiki from now on
So when the price is good i buy this one without hesitation but when the price is too high i go to other brands
Shipping
5 times as much and worse they attempt to hide it by charging a ridiculous amount for shipping
99 for a 15 pound bag with free shipping
Competitiveness
I use a zojirushi neuro fuzzy cooker with this and the results are perfect every time even when making just a single cup
We love this rice have been using it in our zojirushi rice maker for quite some time
Other than the taste there really wasnt any other functional difference between the two rices other than tamanishiki being slig... Read More
Tamaki gold is not even close to tamanishiki

I buy this rice locally from a japanese grocer and i pay literally 20 for this bag of rice but assume that its way overpriced because everyone flocks to amazon to panic buy and that pushes the price of everything into the stratosphere
