Metal belt buckle. The buckle is very sturdy and requires a screw on assembly process that feels pretty stout. I feel like the kore belt is a tad stiffer, but not by a huge amount.

Adjusting the size requires care (chainsaw) but once done, it fits securely. It fits every pair of pants i've worn so far.
