To make wheels match you shim the wheel with the rotor positioned the furthest inboard

I used the topeak topeak combotorq wrench and bit set and in order to gain purchase laid the wheel on the floor

Her regular tire is a knobby 29er which is no good for a trainer causes too much noise and vibration

My very old hayes hfx brake caliper was as far inboard as it could be on my not so new fox fork and even with some machining of the caliper mount it wasnt enough

Nothing terrible but there was some rubbing noise at slow speeds or while torquing the bars while climbing that was wholly irritating

They are very thin so you can dial in the clearance you want on the spoke side and the caliper mount side

Remember that you can only space the disc out towards the fork end

I have 2 sets of rims for my mtb and while the front wheels can be swapped out nicely the rear rims swapout caused the hydraulic disk brakes to bind

Hint 1 youll need a t25 torque wrench for the disc rotor bolts
