The diskstation is compact and energy efficient.
Fan is small but quite.

Did not go for the updated ds111 with the updated processor since this unit would only be used for a single purpose

This is not the product that you can easily figure out with trial and error by simply clicking here or there

Product is complex if you have no patience or basic knowledge in networking you might as well dont bother with it

And second the transfer speed is not what one would expect for a network appliance

Even though it has a gigabit port it barely has enough power to transfer at around 30 to 50 mbps even though this is good from what ive seen with other nas servers barely reaching 10 or 15 mbps

If you plug this into a regular 10100 ethernet network youll only reach something between 15 to 20 mbps when transfering fromto it which is still good enough to use it as a download station and to work as a dlna server but it makes transfering large files quite boring

Trying to enable some features such as ftp ddns web services i have not figured out yet thanks to the incomplete instructions in the manual
