Pros & Cons
Cons
When i checked their compatible drive matrix for the new units, it is mostly synology drives with 1 or 2 non-synology branded drives. Also, they have so many tricks to prevent honoring the warranty.
Highlights

Price

Competitiveness
Synology is doing their level best to push people into their overpriced branded hard drives
Google is your friend and the collective user base out the supports each other better than any company would or even could
