Read this book. It's one of those books that tugs at your heart strings in ways you won't expect. It’s such a tragic, endearing story. This is the first full length book my second grader read.
Sweep is a must-read, must-buy book that is sure to enchant middle grade readers for years to come. Sweep reminds us of the horrific labor conditions endured by very young children. My favorite bookseller recommended sweep wholeheartedly to me.
Nan is a strong and likable character. Toby has a place in my heart as well. Nan and charlie are unforgettable.

It is quite dark and heavy, especially considering it is marketed to elementary-aged readers/listeners.

It was moving and i found myself falling in love with the characters
And with the creative pen of jonathan auxier it all works remarkably well
Im thinking of sending it back to see if they send another with the same defect
I completely disagree with the 812yr age label

I cant say too much here without spoiling bits of the story but i felt like there were secondary characters who i would have liked to know more about their back story than we were given

Though this book is technically middle grade i think i would only give this book to a mature child who can handle the potentially upsetting content
