The amp itself is pretty lightweight and for £60 a bit steep. Only drawback with this and all hearing amplifiers is that they pick up high pitched sounds or make the sound sharp and shrill.
Cons
Feed-back noise is very disturbing. Also goes a bit 'whale' when near other speakers, mics.

He has had nhs hearing aids and very expensive privately made ones via boots both of which frequently dont work or have problems

He took this set on holiday as a back up which was just as well as his hearing aids failed and he would have been unable to hear anything
